Coach Travis Bannon joins Rusk ISD for his first year as a junior high assistant coach, working with football, boys’ track, and boys’ basketball. Though new to coaching, Coach Bannon brings a strong foundation in education and a passion for helping student-athletes succeed both on the field and in the classroom.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Governors University and previously served in Prosper ISD as an elementary teacher for two years. His educational background and classroom experience equip him with the skills to support student growth in all areas of life.

Originally from Frisco, Texas, Coach Bannon recently relocated to the Palestine area with his wife, Halle, and their energetic one-year-old son, Micah. The Bannon family is excited to become active members of the Rusk and Palestine communities and is committed to enriching the lives of local youth through sports and education.

Coach Bannon looks forward to building strong relationships with his athletes and fellow staff, while fostering a team culture rooted in effort, respect, and personal development.
