Trent Montgomery
As a former Collegiate and Professional Athlete and a now dedicated baseball/football coach, Trent Montgomery has committed years to teaching kids how to compete on the field and in the classroom. Trent graduated from Athens High School in 2006, leaving a legacy as Pitcher of the Year and Henderson County MVP. His talents earned him a scholarship to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where he excelled as a starting pitcher for two seasons, achieving 1st team All-Conference honors in 2008. He continued his collegiate career at Northwood University in 2010, securing 2nd team All-Conference accolades, before transferring to Kansas Wesleyan in 2011, where he dominated with an 11-1 record, a conference Championship, and a 1st team All-Conference selection. In 2011, Trent embarked on his professional baseball journey, signing his first contract with the Grand Prairie Air Hogs in the American Association League in 2011. After undergoing Tommy John Surgery, he signed with the Montezuma Federals in the Freedom Professional League (2013). Trent earned a United Baseball League Starting Pitcher All-Star selection with the Fort Worth Cats in 2014. He concluded his playing career with the Florence Freedom in Kentucky in the Frontier League in (2015).
Transitioning to coaching, Trent spent two seasons as an assistant baseball coach at Corum Deo Academy in Flower Mound, TX. He helped lead the team to its first-ever playoff appearance and an impressive run to the 3rd round. From 2017-2019, he served as an assistant Varsity LB and assistant Baseball coach at Malakoff ISD, participating in the team's first appearance to a Title game and a 2nd place finish in the 3A D1 Football State Championship in 2018.
Joining Rusk in 2019-2020 as Varsity OLB coach and Assistant Baseball, he helped lead the team to a 2nd place finish in the 4A Baseball state championship in 2021, marking Rusk's first-ever appearance in a State Championship game. In 2023, he proudly became the Head Baseball Coach.
Trent graduated from Texas A@M Commerce with a degree in General Studies. He married his wife, Lauren Montgomery, in 2018, and they are joyfully anticipating the arrival of their first son, Callen Montgomery, in July 2025.
