Josh Moore
Coach Josh Moore serves as the Junior High Coordinator at Rusk Junior High, where he coaches junior high football and track. With 16 years of coaching experience across multiple programs and sports, Coach Moore brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to developing young athletes.
Before his current role, Coach Moore served as the Offensive Coordinator at Frankston High School, where he helped lead the 2024 offense to a school record for points scored in a season. From 2018 to 2023, he was the Head Football Coach, Athletic Director, and Head Track Coach at Cushing ISD. During his tenure, he led the football program to its first playoff appearance in 20 years and its first playoff win in school history, laying a foundation that saw the team make the playoffs in four of six seasons.
Coach Moore’s previous experience includes serving as Defensive Coordinator at Alto High School (2013–2017), where his teams consistently reached the playoffs, including quarterfinal, regional, and area round appearances. He was also a key part of Alto’s 2014 UIL Team State Championship in Track. His coaching career began at Rusk High School, where he was an assistant in football and baseball from 2009 to 2012.
A proud alumnus of Sam Houston State University, Coach Moore was a four-year letterman at defensive back and helped lead the Bearkats to a conference championship and a national semifinal appearance in 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business from Sam Houston State and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
Coach Moore believes in building strong relationships with student-athletes and challenging them to reach their full potential on and off the field.
Outside of coaching, Josh is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Kala, a Rusk High School graduate, have two sons—Jace (8) and Jack (5)—who keep them busy and bring constant joy to their lives.
