Jeff Welch proudly comes to Rusk ISD as the Head Girls Basketball Coach and as an Assistant Track Coach at Rusk High School. He will also be teaching World History at Rusk HS. Coach Jeff Welch comes to Rusk with 28 years experience coaching and teaching. 

He received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1997 from East Texas Baptist University and his Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2007. Before coming to Rusk ISD this summer, Coach Jeff Welch has had stops at Marshall ISD, Longview ISD, Ore City ISD, Harleton ISD, Linden-Kildare CISD and most recently Jefferson ISD. 

He is the proud father of Taylor Welch (23), a student at LeTourneau University, Dylan Welch (21), a student at East Texas Baptist University, and Sydney Welch (19), a student at Tyler Junior College. 

As of this past March, Coach Jeff Welch is also proudly engaged to his fiancé, Ashley Bristow. The happy couple plan to get married this school year. Ashley also has two kids, Madison (23) and Mason (13).

Faith and family are extremely important to Coach Welch. He enjoys spending quality time with his fiancé, Ashley, his kids (by birth and soon to be step kids) and with his family. 

Coach Welch clings to these verses from the Bible: 

Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

His philosophy of coaching is very much development driven. Coach Welch believes in first developing the character of his student athletes while developing their basketball skills. The ultimate goal is for the student athletes to be successful well beyond the basketball court.
