Michael Williams
Michael Williams serves as the head softball coach at Rusk High School, a position he has held since 2019. In addition to leading the softball program, he is also an assistant football coach, currently working with wide receivers and serving as the team’s special teams coordinator. Over the years, he has coached quarterbacks and defensive backs, bringing versatility and passion to the football program.
A proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Coach Williams earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration, graduating summa cum laude. It was at SFA where he met his wife, Brooke. They now have three boys, Rush (5), Crew (3), and Scout (1), that keep them busy when not coaching.
Coach Williams began his softball coaching career at SFA, where he spent four seasons on staff. He then coached two seasons at Paris Junior College and one season at the University of Louisiana-Monroe before returning to East Texas to lead the program at Rusk.
He is deeply passionate about developing student-athletes not only as competitors but as individuals. He believes in teaching young people to be problem solvers, resilient in the face of challenges, and equipped with the character and work ethic to make a positive impact in their communities. His ultimate goal is to prepare athletes for success far beyond the field, helping them learn to take ownership of their lives, regardless of their circumstances.
Coach Williams lives by the belief that “How you do one thing is how you do everything,” a mindset he strives to instill in every athlete he coaches.
